I never expected…
I never expected I'd grow up to be a TV producer at a PBS station. As a kid, I loved watching TV but I didn't know that it was someone's job to make it. To me, someone like Miss Jean on Maryland Public TV's Hodge Podge Lodge was a big a deal as Mr. Rogers or Big Bird - all of them a little magic. I learned a lot about the world from public television - history, art, nature... other places far from where I grew up - but I never knew enough about how TV was made to imagine doing it as a grown-up. I became a magazine editor, a graphic designer, a teacher - then in a twist of life I moved to a new city and needed a job. A friend recommended me for a production assistant job at the local PBS station. I'm still there, fifteen years later. It's the career I'd been practicing for my whole life.
