My American dream I came to America in the 60s via Greece when I was a newlywed and in my 20s. I didn’t know the language and was alone here with just my husband and his family.
There were plenty of tough days, where food was scarce but I knew better days were ahead.
We worked 14 hour days, from a house keeper, I ended up opening a small tailor shop in Astoria.
We bought our first home and raised 2 daughters. We ended up buying a small vacation home on the East end.
it was not easy but it was worth it. America is the land of opportunity and I pray it remains that way for the thousands that come here looking for a better life.
