A day’s work is challenging, rewarding, heart-breaking, hopeful, discouraging, and miraculous all at the same time. I am a social worker who works in our jail systems to connect people with mental health services when they are released. Working in these systems I get to see the best and worst of humanity on a daily basis, and don't assume the worst of humanity is the people behind the bars in jail, it's not. This year has been tough to say the least. I found the morning blessing above by @holidayphillips (she gives permission to share this poem in the caption on her instagram) and it gives me the courage to keep going and keep fighting for humanity and justice for all.
