The tradition I carry on is being a public school teacher. My mother's family are educators. Her father, Vane Wythe. earned a degree from Indiana Normal College and Danville Normal College in the 1880's. He was a professor of poetry and published a book of poems. His wife had two sisiters who earned college degrees in 1903 and 1907 and retired from school teaching.
My mother and two of her brothers earned college degrees and taught public school.
My oldest brother and I taught college and public school. I have two daughter who are both teachers, one in college the other elementary school
Education has been the most important work for my family. We were lucky to live in Indiana where there were many fine schools and our family thought education was a worthy investment,
