What gets me out of bed in the morning is my love of the little things that life has to offer. Although the past year has been bleak, I've been comforted by constants: birds singing in the morning, warm sunshine peeking through the trees, snowfall bringing its unique silence. I have come to rely on these things. Their presence keeps me grounded during a time when nothing feels certain. My responsibilities keep me going throughout the day, but the little things encourage me to start the day. These things inspire small moments of reflection. Their existence brings a smile to my face with such ease that it forces me to ask myself if everything is really as bad as it seems. If the answer is 'no' then I get up and I get going.
