My American story started when…
My American story started when I learned about how far back my Maryland family roots went. Raised by a single mother who was the first female in her family to attend college, Goucher College, and then went on to make a life for herself as a virologist working on the Polio Vaccine. She had contracted polio as a child, so immunizations were important to her. She always spoke about her ancestors, one of which was a Civil War soldier who fought in the Maryland division. That has spurred me to look more into her life and that of my Father's family, who were from Western Pennsylvania. And thus looking at who I am today because of that history, and for those who had my name and genes in those years past.
