For my people Easter is a celebration of new life. For many, years decorated eggs have been a symbol of that new life and the joy of renewal. Years ago an old gentleman gave me a hand painted egg. It had been emptied and was painted with a beautiful scene. As the years went by, I sadly realized that I had lost the egg. Several years ago I began to paint eggs in much the same way. I empty the egg by piercing either end and blowing the egg out. Then I paint. The eggs have floral designs or scenes of gardens or villages or landscapes. Some have religious scenes such as a depiction of the Road to Emmaus. Some have pictures of children and bunnies. Finally, I glue ribbon around them,The most wonderful thing is giving them to others, especially children - just as my old friend did, so long ago.
