I never expected a racist attack on me way back in 2006 as I did my tai chi at the top of the stairs at Alum Creek. I was careful not to do it when it was crowded. It was sundown and hardly any other person in sight...until a young couple appeared behind me. Soon I heard a stone thrown at me, by the girl. It didn't hit me but it was intended for me. I turned around and saw the distaste and displeasure on the girl's face. Prior to 2006 I'd been visiting my sister in Idaho, New Jersey, New York and Ohio, my sons in Pennsylvania. I'd never heard of anyone speaking about racism and I was thinking there's no racism in America, not since Martin Luther King Jr. had resolved all problems. Soon thereafter I experienced a string of racist acts against me that I never even realized them for what they were.
