You don’t know what it’s like to…
You don’t know what it’s like to be a middle aged autistic woman with hyperacusis, chronic anxiety and heightened startle response. You have no idea what it is like to exist behind closed doors most days with no human contact or access to the outside world. Do you understand the pain of knowing your dreams will never become reality? Can you imagine being 100% responsible for your younger sister while working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week plus a side hustle? Ask my single sister. There is no future for me because I can't access supports I need. Either I can't afford copays or the support itself doesn't exist. Autism IS NOT all about superpowers. It's not all about IQ. Autism is a vast spectrum disorder, yes, disorder. I will not live independently nor work or marry. I need the autistic community to get this and I need help.
