A day’s work is teaching elementary art but yet it is so much more.
A typical day for me is six, 40 minute or classes, I introduce the lesson, hand out the materials, create and clean up. It is a revolving art door. We are painting, drawing, sculpting, learning new techniques, using different materials, learning about artists and their artwork. The past two years have been heaven being in an art room prior to this I was art on a cart.
During my day I am also tying shoelaces, encouraging, mentoring, creating independence and learning. Reminding students to blow their nose with a tissue, to be honest, to be kind, to smile, to share and to always do their best. And I am not their napkin.
A days work is rewarding for me.
