The tradition I carry on is the tradition of school children in New Orleans making shoebox floats to mimic the bigger floats that roll down the street during Carnival season. Our krewe was inspired by this tradition and decided to scale down the parade experience with floats built on top of shoeboxes. Our floats are usually fun and often satirical, much like the bigger floats. We have four brass bands with us along the route. Our theme typically addresses “the small”. We hand out tiny handmade throws. Krewe members dress in black tie formal wear so the floats become the main attraction.
This past Sunday, February 9th was our twelfth roll with the theme “That’s a Little Much”
