My greatest challenge isgetting up every day with a disability. When I was in 5th grade, I ended getting a rare virus called Transverse Myelitis. It turned my world upside down and truly changed the rest of my life. I became a paraplegic in less than an hour as the virus ravaged through my body. I now am 28 years old and still, struggle to get up every day and live life normally. Balancing my health, working 60 hours a week, and being a graduate student is no easy task. I battle with myself every single day to keep going and keep trying. And sometimes it's a losing battle, but most days I win and I keep fighting. I know I represent a small minority in this world and by living my life the way I do I can change the negative perceptions people have of people with disabilities and be normal.
