I never expected ...that the most significant roommates I had in college would be the ones I met in the psychiatric ward. In October 2018, I was hospitalized for an episode of psychosis, a condition that can arise along with depression and anxiety. I had limited contact to the outside world, limited access to ordinary day-to-day objects (apparently floss can be used to strangle someone), and a lot of time with myself. To Charity, Abigail, Grace, and myself: without having met all of you I would still be in that hospital swallowing pills. Each of you was a friend, a mentor, a healer and a teacher. Each of you was what I needed to re-discover myself. You taught me what it means to live to the fullest when we least wanted to live. I can now face the world and all that I am.
