I took a risk when I left my secure, comfortable job at an international non-profit to work for an education technology start-up. It was simultaneously the scariest and most exciting decision I've made. I'm one of comfort. I don't like change. I was good at my job, well-respected and on a trajectory to move up. Leaving and starting over somewhere else was the complete oppositive of my parents' generations -- go with what's secure, comfortable and predictable. But I wanted to take a leap. I stopped believing in what I was doing and it made the long hours no longer worth it. I knew that I needed the change and the organization deserved fresh energy that would look at problems with a new perspective. This was my chance. It was at this start-up, that I met the love of my life.
