A tradition I carry on is sewing. I'm a costume designer, so I design things. I build things. I consider it to be a craft and art. So that's what I do. I make whatever it is to tell the character within a play, within a story. What I am making currently is surgical gowns for a local hospital, Broadlawns hospital. I just dropped some off this morning and picked up six more. They are gowns that are made out out ripstop nylon, that's a plastic fabric. They've got tight cuffs, they've got ties down the back. We're problem solvers. If we don't know where to find it or we can't find it we find a way to make it. So, that's what I'm doing, carrying on the tradition of costume designers and seamstresses who make do, who keep making stuff.
