My American story started when the stories of the outbreak in Wuhan, China began. Like the outer bands of a hurricane warning, my attention began tracking the news releases. In a matter of about 6 weeks, I was advising nervous managers, arranging for staff to work remotely, and making certain our loan papers were ready (I have already survived multiple natural disasters, and know to do this). Fast forward to today May 17, I have found myself reorganizing both my professional and personal life. I have a website in progress, filed for and received government unemployment payments, and have a thick professional file on ever-changing rules. My personal as well as professional Facebook pages are my source for keeping my community as informed as I can, in "plain terms" and local references.
