For as long as there
has been illness, there have been healers. Many traditional forms of
healing have been replaced with modern techniques, but others, like
acupuncture and moxibustion, have been used continuously for well over
two thousand years. In this episode of Body
& Soul, we learn how this ancient technique is still helping
mothers and
babies today.

Next, senior executive
producer and host Gail Harris talks with Ted Kaptchuk, OMD, an Assistant
Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Author of The Web
That Has No Weaver: Understanding Chinese Medicine, he discusses
the history of traditional Chinese medicine, and its strengths.

Finally, Body & Soul gets a rare
glimpse of Guatemalan shamans practicing their ancient form of medicine,
during the ceremony of healing for the Mayan New Year.
