(1) A single-headed drum played with the hands, used in Cuban dance music.

(2) An up-tempo group dance and music style in 4/4 meter traditionally used in comparsa (Carnival) processions in Oriente, and later popularized in the United States. Its distinctive choreographic feature is the dance train's synchronized sideways kicks with alternating legs on the upbeat of the fourth beat of every measure.
