Heather is so passionate about integrating technology into her elementary English Language Arts lessons that she created her own website: educrayz.com. She teaches literacy—both reading and writing, as well as digital literacy. “My students need to be on the cutting edge of technology and have access in a safe environment so they can learn internet etiquette,” Heather says. “We have many discussions about the appropriate use of devices and the digital footprints they are leaving behind.” As an educator, Heather also uses technology to differentiate her lessons and engage students. She spends time sharing her experiences through a variety of professional development workshops at the building, district, and state level. Last summer, she presented at her district's coastal conference, "Tech Camp for Teachers", and more recently, presented at the Mississippi Educational Computing Association (MECA) technology conference.
Fun Fact: Heather uses social media creatively, developing one-minute technology tutorials on Instagram.
