Josephine's (Josie) classroom extends far beyond her four walls. Using discussion boards, social networks, virtual field trips, and other communication channels, Josie’s students learn from and share their own ideas with people from across the United States and around the world. She says her favorite way to make learning meaningful is to encourage her students to choose their method of creating, (i.e. Powtoons, green screen video, storyboards etc.) and then present to the class. She collaborates and shares ideas with other educators on Twitter, saying, “I like to share tidbits of what I'm doing on Twitter so that other educators may become inspired to try something new.”
Fun Fact: Josie cheers on her students inside and outside of the class: she was a cheer coach and, now in her new school, coaches the math team.
