Rachel Murat has been an educator at Maine-Endwell High School for 24 years. Throughout those years she has taught AP Government and Politics, Digital Citizenship, Digital Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Global History, US History GSuite, Sociology and Psychology. She earned her Bachelor’s from Ohio University in 1995 and her Master’s from Binghamton University in 2001. She is very active in the lives of her students outside of the classroom. She has been an advisor to many clubs including Key Club, Student Council, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Up and Mock Trial. She has also served as a class advisor for nine graduating classes. She has taken her students on many trips including the Presidential Inaugurations in 2009 and 2017. She has been the organizer of several regional educational conferences and has been featured in several publications including Ozy Media for her work in the field of Digital Citizenship. She is a co-author of DigCitKids: Lessons Learning Side-by-Side, to Empower Others Around the World. She is very active on social media and views it as a way to break down the traditional limitations of professional development and a means to connect both her students and classroom to the world. She is also the Founder and President of M-EALS and Leadership, a federally recognized 501c3 nonprofit district food pantry system that feeds over 100 district families with weekly home deliveries of food.

Fun Fact: Being near the water is Rachel’s favorite non-school place!

Favorite PBS Character/Show: Sesame Street because “they have endured through all that the past 51 years has thrown at us. They continue to grow and still be very relevant in the lives of our young people!”
