DEVILLIER DONEGAN ENTERPRISES, LP
Brian Donegan is a co-founder of DEVILLIER DONEGAN ENTERPRISES (DDE), an international development and distribution company specializing in nonfiction television.
Donegan began his career in broadcasting at WTTW Chicago in 1969. He served as producer of several award-winning programs including A Season at the Lyric. Donegan also attracted national attention for his innovative and aggressive programming style. Under his leadership, WTTW became the most watched public television station in America.
From 1978 to 1980, Donegan served as Director of Program Acquisitions at PBS. He also acted as the executive-in-charge of numerous specials ranging from biographies of Louis Armstrong and Ingrid Bergman, to Country Music Specials from Nashville and gala celebrations of opera and ballet from the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center.
In 1980, Donegan and Ron Devillier established DEVILLIER DONEGAN ENTERPRISES, an innovative program development, distribution and marketing company specializing in nonfiction film. Within a decade, DDE was representing the production affairs of seventy independent filmmakers and distributing more than 1,000 hours of television programs.
In 1994, DDE entered into partnership with ABC/CAPITAL CITIES. Since this alliance, Donegan has worked closely with ABC News Productions on the development of hundreds of hours of original programming for domestic cable and international markets.
In 1996, DISNEY joined forces with ABC. The DISNEY/ABC alliance enabled DDE to further expand its development, production and distribution efforts on a global scale.
Donegan continues to concentrate on DDE's development of new documentary mini-series by some of the world's most gifted filmmakers. He was a key force in the launches of such successful series as Hidden Worlds, Mysteries of Deep Space and Secrets of the Ocean Realm on PBS; and Hero School, Future War, Panama Canal and Vietnam: Soldiers in Battle for DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS.
Donegan serves on the board of trustees of the International Documentary Association (IDA). He received his degree in history from Princeton University. He resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife Martha and four children.
