Scientists are finding microbial life in places they never expected — in boiling water, inside rocks, under ice, and even at the bottom of the ocean where it's dark, cold and the pressure is very high. These microbes are called extremophiles, and scientists are looking to them for clues as to what some alien life might be like.

2) Which creature pumps water through a body cavity and extracts zooplankton through a mucous net?
The Tharsis Troopers swim by whipping their tails and filtering water and zooplankton through a body cavity at their tip. The solitary Trooper reproduces asexually to produce a broader mass chain. Individuals in the chain are hermaphroditic, starting life as females. These young females are fertilized by older males from another chain.
Bowltraps are colorful creatures that attach to the rock bottom. A fringed opening on top allows zooplankton to enter the bowl. When the Bowltrap senses that its prey has entered, it snaps the fringe tissue shut and contracts its body to digest the food.
