Scientists are finding microbial life in places they never expected — in boiling water, inside rocks, under ice, and even at the bottom of the ocean where it's dark, cold and the pressure is very high. These microbes are called extremophiles, and scientists are looking to them for clues as to what some alien life might be like.
Mars Quiz
3) Which creature lures prey with chemicals that are released from its mouth?
Lowell's Lion patiently waits for zooplankton to be drawn in by the chemicals its mouth releases. When prey enters its mouth, the mouth snaps shut and contracts, forcing the food into its digestive tract.
Martian Cnidaria uses its anterior openings to gather zooplankton as it swims. Some species have tentacle-like arms that grasp prey and feed.
