Rebel Story
Seven of us got together and just decided we wanted to have a good product for people to eat. The fish was all imported; a bunch of garbage. We started up American Tuna and when we first started, we didnt have any money to buy a labeling machine, so we put our own labels on the cans, all the owners got together. Now it’s getting more and more popular every year. We’re in Whole Foods nationwide, it’s been a success.
Q&A
What is the problem with fish in America today?
The biggest problem with fish in America is probably that over 85% of fish people consume in the United States is imported from a foreign country, and they have very few rules and regulations. They’re pretty much just raping the ocean.
What is the solution?
I don’t know, is the answer to that. I don’t know.
What do you love most about fishing?
I guess what I love most about fishing is you’re your own boss. And it’s real exciting when youre out there and the fish wanna bite, I mean there’s nothing like it. It’s just a peaceful way of life, nice clean fresh air, good food. It’s just a good way of life.
