Twelve new bakers don their aprons and head for the iconic tent in the heart of the British countryside. Judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood have created 30 brand new challenges that will test their baking prowess, creativity and skill in a bid to find Britain’s best amateur baker. From bread, biscuits, and high end patisserie to store cupboard classics and beautiful botanical creations, the bakers will have to whisk, knead, ice, roll, beat and bake week after week to make it to the final.
As ever, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins will be with them every step of the way ready to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on. Starting with Cake Week, the bakers will tackle a British classic in their first signature challenge as Paul and Mary take the bakers back to basics. But fear not, the judging will be just as tough.
Next, the bakers face their first technical — Mary’s challenge tests them on a popular little cake with a fatless sponge and tricky chocolate work, calling on all their baking instincts for this technically challenging cake and no one wants to disappoint the Queen of Baking. The bakers have to go all out to impress with their first showstopper: It’s sophisticated, high end, and the judges want nothing short of perfection. With this cake, there’s nowhere to hide. 12 new bakers, 30 new challenges.
