March 4, 2016
Although we woke up to a snow covered ground early this morning, it’s almost all gone, and we are looking forward to a warm spring week starting on Sunday. This is a classic March, whether I’m in New York or in Italy.
Springtime is one of my favorite times of year; it brings back memories of foraging for wild asparagus with my grandmother just as the weather was starting to act as it is now. Those first greens were true treasures at our family table. We made frittatas with them, salads, pastas and soups.
I go to Istria and Friuli to recreate these wonderful memories. Food is memory.
