LEBANON
- Public Opinion
In 2002 and 2003, as part of its Pew Global Attitudes Project,
the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press asked participants
in Lebanon to reflect on their electoral process. Following are some
select responses.
"Honest elections are held regularly with a choice of at least two political
parties." How does this [statement] describe your country?

Some people in our country [Lebanon] feel that democracy is a Western
way of doing things that would not work here -- others think that democracy
is not just for the West and can work well here. Which comes closer
to your opinion?
