Steven Adams (Producer)

Steven Adams (producer), a California native, recently wrapped the production on the film adaptation of A Huey P. Newton Story, Roger Guenveur Smith’s critically acclaimed stage performance. Directed by Spike Lee, Huey was shot by acclaimed DP Ellen Kuras (Blow). In 1995, Mr. Adams presented the world premiere of "A Huey P. Newton Story" in association with Magic Theatre and Oakland Ensemble Theatres. Since then, Mr. Adams has presented Huey across North America and Europe, including the Public Theatre in New York and the Barbican Center, London. "A Huey P. Newton Story" has received the Obie, Helen Hayes Audelco, NAACP, Barrymore Awards, and two Drama Desk nominations.

Adams’ other film and television credits include two seasons of "The Culture Clash Show" for Fox’, "III Gotten Girls," an independent feature starring Djimon Honsou and the award winning shot, "The Confession," which has competed in eighteen festivals. Mr. Adams also co-produced Faces on Mars for director Jane Spencer (Little Noises, Sundance ’93) which featured DP Dino Parks (DP of Oscar-nominated short Seraglio).

Other award winning theatre credits include Charlayne Woodard’s "Pretty Fire," which two Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards (LADCA) and three NAACP Awards; "The Cock and Bull Story," also honored by the LADCA; "Radio Mambo," which took New York’s prestigious Bessie Award; and; "Inside the Creole Mafia," which took three NAACP Awards and won an LA Weekly Theatre Award.
