    Premiere: 4/2/2017

In this excerpt from the Independent Lens film Newtown, Gene Rosen, a neighbor of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, recalls his experience in 2012 finding two boys on his lawn who escaped the shooting at their school and were breathlessly in a quiet state of abject fear and terror after they had lost their teacher. The clip also includes Syeda Suriya Ahmed, mother of a first grader who survived the shooting, who recounts how her son’s teacher told his class a story when locked in their classroom. The story she told was of a fox who came back to kill his friends.
