The prestigious awards are selected by the International Documentary Association every year to honor the year&#8217;s best in\u00a0documentary filmmaking.\u00a0The full list of winners was published on <em><a href=\"http:\/\/variety.com\/2015\/film\/in-contention\/look-of-silence-ida-award-best-documentary-2015-1201654908\/\" target=\"_blank\">Variety<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For the third year in a row, <em>Independent Lens<\/em> won <strong>Best Curated Series<\/strong>, this time happily sharing the honor with our sister series <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/pov\/\" target=\"_blank\">POV<\/a><\/em>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cReceiving the 2015 IDA Best Curated Series is a great honor and I am proud of my team at\u00a0<em>Independent Lens<\/em>\u00a0and the amazing filmmakers who contribute to the success of the program,\u201d said Lois Vossen, executive producer of\u00a0<em>Independent Lens<\/em>. \u201cWe are proud to be a part of ITVS and its mission to bring audiences face-to-face with the lives and concerns of their fellow Americans who are underrepresented in the media landscape today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The acclaimed\u00a0<strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/itvs.org\/films\/best-of-enemies\">Best of Enemies<\/a><\/em><\/strong> (which will air on <em>Independent Lens<\/em> in the fall of 2016) was honored with two awards: <strong>Best Music\u00a0<\/strong>for the\u00a0original score by\u00a0Jonathan Kirkscey; and the\u00a0the <strong>ABC News VideoSource Award<\/strong>,\u00a0which recognizes the best use of news footage in a documentary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are both grateful to have received two awards <span data-term=\"goog_50074199\">tonight<\/span> and want to thank ITVS for its generous support of <em>Best of Enemies<\/em>,\u201d said <em>Best of Enemies<\/em> directors Robert Gordon and Morgan Neville. \u201cJust as Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr.\u2019s diverse points of views shaped television forever, ITVS\u2019s mission of supporting diverse and independent filmmakers have helped shaped a generation of storytelling in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Best Of Enemies - Official Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CzgfQvB2dvA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>The<strong> Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award\u00a0<\/strong>was given to filmmakers Lyric R. Cabral and David Felix Sutcliffe for their work on the film\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/terror\/\">(T)ERROR<\/a><\/em>, which will air on <em>Independent Lens<\/em> February 22, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In our film, we wanted to highlight what we consider a serious threat to the fabric of our democracy.
