Doc Emmy Awards ceremony held at New York City&#8217;s Lincoln Center presented by the National Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences (NATAS) on September 21.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, filmmaker <a href=\"http:\/\/firelightmedia.tv\/about\/#_staff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stanley Nelson<\/a>, who directed the award-winning, social media-trending\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/the-black-panthers-vanguard-of-the-revolution\/\"><em>Black Panthers: Vanguard of a Revolution<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=12n0dbsFOvw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">received<\/a> a Lifetime Achievement Award at the News &amp; Doc Emmy ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Indie Lens received eight nominations all told:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/kill-team\/\"><em>The Kill Team<\/em><\/a> for Outstanding Investigative Reporting;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/born-to-fly\/\"><em>Born to Fly: Elizabeth Streb vs. Gravity<\/em><\/a> for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/1971\/\"><em>1971<\/em><\/a> for Outstanding Historical Reporting;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/after-the-storm\/\"><em>After the Storm<\/em><\/a> for New Approach: Documentary;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/american-denial\/\"><em>American Denial<\/em><\/a> for Outstanding Science and Technology Programming;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/films\/through-a-lens-darkly\/\"><em>Through a Lens Darkly<\/em><\/a> for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming;
