{"id":1516,"date":"2014-12-06T08:10:41","date_gmt":"2014-12-06T16:10:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/blog\/?p=6082"},"modified":"2014-12-08T10:06:05","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T18:06:05","slug":"ida-award-for-best-curated-series","status":"publish","type":"blog","link":"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/blog\/ida-award-for-best-curated-series\/","title":{"rendered":"And the winner of IDA Award for Best Curated Series goes to&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/image.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6100\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/independentlens\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/image.jpg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>\n<p class=\"p1\">At Friday night\u2019s 30th annual <a href=\"http:\/\/www.documentary.org\/awards2014\" target=\"_blank\">IDA Documentary Awards<\/a>, given out every year by the International Documentary Association to recognize and honor outstanding documentary films and filmmakers, <i>Independent Lens<\/i> was given the great honor of winning the 2014 <b>Best Curated Series Award<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The other very deserving series nominated for this award were PBS\u2019s <i>American Masters<\/i>, <i>American Experience<\/i>, and POV, and HBO\u2019s <i>Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply honored by this recognition, given both the history of the IDA Award and to be considered alongside four other outstanding series,\u201d said Lois Vossen, <i>Independent Lens<\/i> Deputy Executive Producer. \u201cThis award encourages us as we continue to champion diversity in the filmmakers we fund and the topics we explore, and it\u00a0validates the importance of these films that spark vital conversations in communities across the country and around the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This was the second straight year\u00a0<em>Independent Lens<\/em> received the Best Curated Series Award; can we make it a hat trick in 2015? We shall see.
