All told, <em>Independent Lens<\/em> received a total of 12 nominations, the most of any PBS series.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/about\/blogs\/news\/pbs-receives-47-news-and-documentary-emmy-nominations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>PBS<\/strong> led all networks with a total of 47 News and Documentary Emmy\u00ae nominations<\/a>, and was honored with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/about\/about-pbs\/blogs\/news\/pbs-wins-nine-news-documentary-emmy-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nine wins<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 40<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">annual News &amp; Doc Emmy\u00ae Awards, as announced by the National Academy of Television Arts &amp; Sciences (NATAS), were presented at Lincoln Center\u2019s Alice Tully Hall, and honored films distributed in 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Independent Lens<\/em> has now won <strong>24<\/strong> News &amp; Documentary Emmys.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re exceptionally proud to have funded and supported the filmmakers whose work was honored with News &amp; Documentary Emmy Awards last night,&#8221; said Lois Vossen, <em>Independent Lens<\/em> Executive Producer. &#8220;We&#8217;re especially pleased that the teams from <em>Dawnland, Wildland<\/em> and <em>I Am Not Your Negro<\/em> were recognized for their exceptional storytelling. These films allow people to find unity in divided times by creating empathy and a deeper understanding of complex, urgent social issues. By making these extraordinary films free and accessible to all Americans via public television, <em>Independent Lens<\/em> continues to build the public trust in PBS as the Home of Documentaries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We extend a very hearty congratulations to all the teams behind these award-winning <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Independent Lens<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> documentaries.
