\"ThumbnailIt’s contest time again!
\nFirst, tune in tonight (March 29, 2011 at 10 PM – check local listings<\/a>) for the broadcast premiere of Pushing the Elephant<\/em><\/a>. It is the story of Rose Mapendo, who has managed to overcome astounding odds to survive genocide in the Congo, resettle as a refugee in the United States, reunite her fractured family, and work toward peace and reconciliation in her war-torn country. In 2009, she was named Humanitarian of the Year by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
\nThe Contest<\/strong>
\nYour mission, should you choose to accept it … <\/em>Write one sentence<\/em> about the one woman in the world who has inspired you the most. It might be a celebrity, an activist, an historical figure, a political leader, a businesswoman, an athlete, a scientist, an artist, a family member, or a friend.
\nWe will collect all entries left in the comments of this blog post and on our Facebook page, and narrow them down to our favorite 10. Then we will take a poll of our fans to determine the winner!

\nThe Prizes<\/strong>
\nAll of our finalists will receive a $15 iTunes gift card. The 2nd and 3rd place finishers will also receive an Independent Lens poster signed by recording artist India.Arie. And our winner will receive the gift card, a post, and a viewer profile on our blog.
