How do you earn your spending and saving money?

I'm in a band that writes musical material. We're certain that our songs are going to get us paid. We're a group of talented guys, and have the energy to work as a group to achieve our goals.

I hire myself out to people around the neighborhood. It was interesting, like having to actually talk to neighbors you normally never speak to, mowing lawns, fixing lawnmowers.

A fun and cool way to make money is to have a contest with your friends, on who can collect the most soda cans for, let's say, an hour. Then, take the cans to a place where they can be recycled. For every can, you get 5 cents. That may not seem like much, but it really adds up. It is a great workout, and plus, it helps the environment.

I volunteered at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival as a costume stitcher, and by the end of the first day, they asked me if I wanted to get paid! I did, of course, and helped create the costumes for the last two shows, "Charley's Aunt" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and the touring Will Power show of "MacBeth". I didn't make much money, but I earned several good friendships and an interesting item to put on a scholarship application or resume.

Babysitting! Not really unique, but hey, I get to go shopping with it!

I have had so many summer and afterschool jobs. Let's see...I have worked at the National Zoo, as a teacher's aide teaching little children about primates and giraffes. Then I worked at an accessory and jewelry store, then I worked at The Gap, and now I work at a law firm under work-study.

My first summer job was very cool. I worked in a clothing store and I got discounts on all my new school clothes.

I am a musician, and I find it's easy to make money as a kid by putting out flyers telling your talent and what you're available to do...even if it turns out to be volunteer, at least it lets you progress in your skill, and get recognition!

I love to babysite because I love working with children, and you can still have fun while making money. I babysat this really cute 3-month-old baby, and she said her first world while she was with me.

This isn't really a job, but through school, for letter points, I got to tutor kids on trumpet lessons, and I learned alot while improving the future of my band at the same time.

I work at a strawberry farm in the summer, at a friend's house. It is fun, except when you get strawberries smashed in your hair!
--Annie, 13, Union Grove, WI

I've made jewelry before and sold it, and I've done hair wraps. I worked in an ice cream parlor...that was awesome.
--Kelly, 16, South Salem, NY

I've made popcorn wreaths and sell them around Christmas time.

What's better than working with your friend at a toy store and getting paid? My friend Tara owns "Tara's Dolls and Collectibles", so I always have a good time while I work.
