STEVEN
FENBERG
Executive Producer and Co-Writer
Steven Fenberg became knowledgeable about Jesse
H. Jones while developing an archive and exhibit about his life.
Fenberg also initiated and conducted an oral history project to
record the memories of those who had known Jones. From there,
the seeds of a documentary, Brother, Can You Spare a Billion?
The Story of Jesse H. Jones, were sown.
Fenberg, a Houston native, had almost literally
grown up in the shadow of Jones; his family's businesses were
located in downtown buildings Jones owned. But though he was more
familiar with Jones than most, as he dug into the papers he was
surprised to find just how little he really knew about the man.
Fenberg has published many articles in magazines
and newspapers about social and political issues. He also wrote
and produced an educational play about AIDS that was seen by students,
teachers and adults throughout the Greater Houston area. Currently,
he is writing a book about Jesse Jones for the Texas A&M University
Press.
