Olympus Mons

Viking confirmed that Mars, like Venus and Earth, has volcanoes. This one, Olympus Mons, is the largest volcano in the solar system. It reaches 26 kilometers high — three times the height of Mount Everest — and is nearly 600 kilometers wide at the base. The fact that Olympus Mons is so big suggests that Mars is geologically dead.
