Woven throughout the program were messages from prominent guest artists with words of thanks and support for those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2020&nbsp;<em>National Memorial Day Concert<\/em>&nbsp;paid tribute to the men and women who are doing so much for all of us in the current fight against COVID-19, and continued the 31 year tradition of honoring and remembering our troops, veterans, wounded warriors, all those who have given their lives for freedom, and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the traditional live concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol was not held to ensure the health and safety of all involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>America\u2019s national night of remembrance featured: distinguished American statesman&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/general-colin-powell\/\">General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.)<\/a>; Tony, Emmy, and Grammy winner and two-time Oscar nominee,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/cynthia-erivo\/\">Cynthia Erivo<\/a>; world-renowned four-time Grammy Award- winning soprano superstar&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/renee-fleming\/\">Ren\u00e9e Fleming<\/a>; Academy Award-nominated actor&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/sam-elliott\/\">Sam Elliott<\/a>; Oscar nominee and Emmy and Tony-Award winner&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/laurence-fishburne\/\">Laurence Fishburne<\/a>; country music star and Grammy-nominated member of the Grand Ole Opry&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/trace-adkins\/\">Trace Adkins<\/a>; Tony Award-nominated actress&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/mary-mccormack\/\">Mary McCormack<\/a>; actor\/producer\/director&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/esai-morales\/\">Esai Morales<\/a>; Grammy Award-winning gospel legend&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/cece-winans\/\">CeCe Winans<\/a>; Tony Award- winning Broadway star&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/kelli-ohara\/\">Kelli O\u2019Hara<\/a>; the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/national-symphony-orchestra\/\">National Symphony Orchestra<\/a>&nbsp;under the direction of top pops conductor&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/jack-everly\/\">Jack Everly<\/a>; and a special message from General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Broadway and television star&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/national-memorial-day-concert\/performer\/christopher-jackson\/\">Christopher Jackson<\/a>&nbsp;opened the show with a poignant&nbsp;performance of the national anthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With special messages from: George Clooney, Courteney Cox, Bryan Cranston, Chris Evans, Jennifer Garner, Graham Greene, Jon Hamm, Marcia Gay Harden, Dul\u00e9 Hill, Bonnie Hunt, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, Patti LaBelle, Denis Leary, Sugar Ray Leonard, S.
