PBS NewsHour Extra and New Global Citizens (NGC) have paired up to bring you education resources to teach the Olympic Games through the lens of human rights.  NGC is a youth activism program that pairs students with social justice groups around the globe. These four lesson plans include an introduction to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, historic human rights moments at the Games through an interactive timeline and an opportunity to debate the human right issues at the Sochi 2014 Olympics. Each lesson is aligned to Common Core Standards and take approximately 60 minutes from start to finish. The Olympics start February 7 so get your students engaged and excited about human rights and the Olympic Games today!
