The news means that Trump will no longer face a contested Republican National Convention in July, which happens when no candidate has secured the minimum 1,237 votes needed to secure the nomination. Trump celebrated the news at a press conference, where he reveled in the fact that his nomination is official before the Democrats. “And here I am watching Hillary fight, and she can’t close the deal,” Trump said. Bernie Sanders continue to fight for the nomination, both focusing this week on California where the June 7 primary will offer up a large pot of delegates. Meanwhile, President Barack Obama was at the G7 Summit in Japan, where he said many world leaders have raised concern over the prospect of a Trump presidency. “They’re rattled by him, and for good reason, because a lot of the proposals that he has made display either ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude or an interest in getting tweets and headlines,” Obama said.
