Can You Define Winning Words from the Scripps National Spelling Bee?

Have students test their obscure word knowledge through a fun Kahoot game. Can they define winning Scripps National Spelling Bee words from the past several years?

Activity

  1. Ensure that each student or pair of students has access to a laptop, computer or smartphone with Internet access.
  2. The teacher should go here on his or her computer and select the "Player vs. Player" option. Students should go to the Kahoot website , enter the game code located at the top of the screen, and choose a nickname to join the game once the teacher selects "Start."
  3. Students will select the definition they believe to be correct out of four multiple-choice options. They can compete with their peers for accuracy and speed.
  4. It is the teacher's responsibility to click to the next question when students have submitted their answers.
