Information | What to expect from the judging process
Learn what the judges will be looking for in your #MyZeitgeist submission. When creating your project ask yourself these questions: Were the events I chose newsworthy? Remember, newsworthy events have: timeliness, proximity, conflict & controversy, human interest, relevance. (See the “What is newsworthy ” handout for detailed a description)
- Was my video entertaining? Put yourself in the place of the viewer and ask yourself, "Am I enjoying watching this? Did I laugh, cry, rejoice? Or does this video put me to sleep?"
- Was my project creative? Many students will choose the same news stories, but what is important is "Did you present them in a creative way?" You are not a professional news anchor, so don't worry about emulating one. Be yourself and tell the story of 2014 through your unique perspective.
- Did I effectively make use of images and videos? We've all heard the saying, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Did you choose photographs and videos that will have a powerful effect on the viewers?
- Did I effectively use Meograph or Trio to its fullest potential? You have images, videos, music, maps and more at your finger tips with Meograph. Did you use them in a way that enhanced the news stories?
