Associate Producer, Social Media

ABOUT THE ROLE
Student Reporting Labs (SRL) is looking for a creative Associate Producer, Social Media to produce fun and informative video content with and for teens, and help manage our social media platforms as our team undertakes large-scale content initiatives. As our Associate Producer, Social Media you must be passionate about celebrating teen voices, creating innovative, quick videos on new platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and finding audiences on social media. The Associate Producer, Social Media will work closely with SRL’s digital producer, youth media producers and high school students in our nationwide network.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
In your first 90 days, you will solidify a strategy content plan with SRL’s digital producer for all of the department’s digital platforms.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You will quickly adapt to working in a remote environment and seamlessly use different digital communication tools to connect with colleagues across the country. You understand the importance of working collaboratively to achieve a desired goal and familiarize yourself with our mission, work, events and educational resources.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.

SRL is an award-winning national youth media program that connects classrooms and after school programs to the PBS NewsHour and local PBS stations. Over a decade of growth, development, partnership, and meeting the moment has transformed us into a preeminent youth media organization providing thousands of educators and students with unique resources and programs to build critical journalism, media literacy, and storytelling skills. We motivate and empower our network of young storytellers by publishing their work to local and national media platforms.
Today, SRL works directly with over 180 schools and organizations (Sites) across the country, providing students and their teachers with the resources and tools to develop professional news and other non-fiction stories about topics that matter to them. For the past 12 years SRL has inspired young journalists and creators to be inquisitive, creative, diligent, and fair through flexible lesson plans and timely assignments that educators can easily integrate into their classrooms. SRL fills a niche demand in news media by providing a platform for young voices to inform and engage audiences around social, political, and scientific issues. Student work is taken seriously and shared widely to audiences in the millions through digital and broadcast platforms including PBS NewsHour broadcasts and local public media channels.
