Software Engineer, PBS NewsHour Full-time, Regular, Remote Reports to: Director, Product
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Software Engineer you will work with the NewsHour Digital Team to design, build, deploy and test PBS NewsHour products, services and infrastructure. You will help identify, troubleshoot, and solve complex software engineering problems on the server-side as well as on the client-side. You will also help support and maintain the NewsHour’s cloud infrastructure on AWS. You will support our current content management system as well as helping us plan for future CMS options.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You’ll get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You’ll learn our fast-paced work style while establishing key relationships with colleagues.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You translate requirements and build performant features and functionality across our platforms on both the front-end and back-end in a timely manner. You participate in technical discussions regarding the direction of our content and publishing ecosystems. You contribute unique ideas regarding engineering best-practices and digital strategies. You are self-motivated with a conscientious mentality and a commitment to learn new skills and explore emerging technologies.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
