Pilot House

The pilothouse is the center for navigation and control of the ship's main systems. It not only houses instruments such as the GPS (Global Positioning System), radar, depth sounder, and weather monitors, but also the hydrophone listening station, acoustic tracking computer controls, and science laboratory. A helms-person is on duty 24 hours a day in the pilothouse to guide the Odyssey and keep a careful watch for navigational hazards.
