Alan Wood
Deckhand - Mauritius
Home: Durham, England
Having failed in his original plans to become a heavy metal drumming legend in my formative teenage years,
Alan graduated from the University of Teeside in 1990
and worked in Cyprus for a year as an Interior Designer.
In 1992, Alan traveled back to the UK and worked as a freelance architectural illustrator for
a while, then it was an obvious progression to Durham University Business School's graduate
training programme in Eco Tourism Management.
He moved to Wales and attended Carmarthen College of Technology and Art to do a post graduate HND
in Multi disciplinary Computer Applications before moving on to Brighton to head up the art team on several games and multi-media titles, established
his own new media graphics company for awhile and was art director position in Leeds for a computer games company.
On completion of the game, Premiership Manager, he decided it was time for a new challenge.
Alan completed his professional sailing certificates early in 2003, and worked on a couple of yachts in the UK and Mediterranean for the summer,
before joining the Odyssey in September in Sri Lanka.
Having always had a great love of the environment, sea and travel, and Alan hopes to contribute in some small way to the fantastic and crucial work of the Odyssey and Ocean Alliance.
