About the Show
One in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage, but it's an experience many women still feel ashamed of speaking about. "If Everyone Knew" is the raw and honest story of three women’s personal journeys with baby loss, tackling the taboo and stigma that surrounds it.

Gurinder went through six miscarriages and one stillbirth, Vanessa underwent rounds of IVF and had a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy and Donna had several miscarriages including a 'missed miscarriage.' She later discovered that her best friend had experienced baby loss at the same time, but they never spoke about it. This film asks why women feel ashamed to share their stories of baby loss even with the people closest to them.
Though the conversation around baby loss in society is growing, there is still a lot of work to be done. Vanessa, Gurinder and Donna are connected by the isolation they feel after their loss. Feelings of shame complicate the mourning process and make it difficult to process the grief of losing a child. "If Everyone Knew" creates a space for women to speak openly about their experiences and encourages other women to share their stories as well.
This short documentary was filmed across the UK during the lockdown of winter 2021 as restrictions began to ease, where public spaces were still closed and social distancing measures were still in place.
