When it comes to keeping the Rutgers
women’s basketball office and operation running smoothly,
Dawn Buckner always can be found working tirelessly
behind the scenes.
Buckner is in her sixth year with the Rutgers women's
basketball program, and her first as director of
basketball operations.
|
Previously, Buckner served as Coach Stringer's assistant, an integral
part of the action. She worked directly with Coach Stringer on all personal
and professional aspects of the women’s basketball program at Rutgers,
oversaw the office staff, played a dual role as the office manager, and
administered the general mailings to supporters of the program.
“Dawn has extensive knowledge of our program and has been my confidant
for the last five years," head coach C. Vivian Stringer said. "This
was an easy decision for me because hiring Dawn (as the
director of operations) made perfect sense due to her previous role
in the program."
Buckner began her tenure at Rutgers in October of 1992 at the Consortium
for Policy Research in Education and, after two years, moved on to a
position in the Dean’s office at the College of Pharmacy. She joined
the women’s basketball staff in August of 1998.
In 1992 Buckner was Middlesex County’s recipient of the S.T.A.R.
Award, given each year by the state of New Jersey for educational achievement.
An avid supporter of Rutgers athletics, Buckner can be found in the
stands for most other Scarlet Knight events. Originally from Chicago,
IL, she is a graduate of nearby Franklin High School.
