Advocates push for alternatives to beach replenishment

Some Jersey Shore residents, as well as environmental and fishing groups, say beach replenishment projects are causing harm to communities, fish and green life and they're calling on the state to find alternative ways to protect the shoreline from storms. State lawmakers are considering legislation that would double the amount of money for the state's shore protection fund, to $50 million.
